XBOX FTP:

Once your XBOX has been modded, you will be able to network it, see XBOX Networking and then connect to it from your computer with a standard FTP client, this will enable you to copy files to and from your XBOX's internal hard drive.

You will of course require a basic FTP client, this comes as standard on most versions of Windows, however it is not very user friendly, so we would recommend you download and install FLASH FXP it may be used freely for a 30-day trial period assuming you are running MS Windows.

Before you will be able to FTP into your XBOX you will of course need to be running something like EvolutionX.

Ok, so you have a modded XBOX, your running EvolutionX, it's networked to another computer or computers via a router/hub and they are all switched on an ready and one of them has FlashFXP installed and running.

Switch on your XBOX and boot into EvolutionX You will need to go into the "System Utils" menu and then into the "Settings" menu. Once there, check the 5th line down in the list make sure "Setup Network" is set to "Yes".

3rd line down says "Line Status" if you see: "No Link!" next to it, then this means your network connection is not working correctly, and you will need to check you have the right type of cable, the connections and any other computer(s) you may have connected. If you see: "100/Full Duplex" then your network connections are working correctly.

Under the heading "Network" you will see "Type" if next to that it says "DHCP" then your XBOX has detected a DHCP server and you should have "Use Static IP" set to "No", if however next to "Type" it does not say "DHCP" then your XBOX should have "Use Static IP" set to "Yes" and you will probably have a default IP of "192.168.0.3" however you can use any IP in the range 192.168.0.* where * is any value from 2-255.

If your using a Router, MS Internet Connection Sharing or Winroute on Windows XP you are probably using DHCP which means your XBOX will be automatically assigned an IP address. However, if your connecting your XBOX to another XBOX or a computer without a Router, MS Internet Connection Sharing or Winroute on Windows XP you will probably want to set "Use Static IP" to "Yes". This can be changed by selecting it and pressing the "A" button on the game pad.

2nd line down in the list is the IP address of your XBOX.

In FlashFXP go to the "Sites" menu and select "Site Manager" click on the button marked "New Site" and enter "XBOX" for the Site Name. Next enter your XBOX IP address in the IP Address field, the port should default to port 21 this is correct, the Username of your XBOX is "xbox" and your password is defined in the evox.ini file but is normally set to "xbox". Now click on the "Apply" button and then click "Connect", assuming all is fine then you will see the drives listed in the right hand window C:, D:, E:, F:, X:, Y: and Z:

If your client fails to connect to your XBOX look in the "System Utils" menu and then into the "Settings" menu of your XBOX, next to "Type", if you do not see "DHCP", you will probably need to add an Static Internal IP address to the computer connecting to the XBOX also. Go into your computers network via Windows control pannel select your NIC's TCP/IP Properties, and check off "Use the Following IP address:". Next, where it says IP address, enter: 192.168.0.1. Where it says Subnet Mask, enter: 255.255.255.0 Click on Ok, and exit. and try again. you should now be able to connect.
