XBOX DVD ROM Drive Emergency Eject Procedure:
Do you have game, music or video disc stuck inside your Xbox DVD ROM drive that you are unable to eject? If your Xbox is not functioning correctly or you have no power to your Xbox then you have a problem, if you need that disc out in an emergency especially if you have a rental disc stuck in your drive and it needs to be taken back.
Fortunately there is a way to manually open the DVD drive, but you will need a paperclip or something similar, generally the larger paperclips work better. You just need to straighten out the paperclip so that it can be used as an opening tool.
On the front of every Xbox console you will find a small hole as shown above with Arrow 1. You will need to insert a paperclip into this hole to release the DVD ROM tray. However, should you find it hits metal and not plastic when you insert the paperclip, then you have a Philips DVD ROM drive and will need to insert your paperclip into the hole shown with arrow 2.
The Thomson, Samsung and Hitachi LG DVD drives trays are all opened via the hole shown with arrow 1. Only the Philips drive is opened via the hole shown with arrow 2.
Both the Samsung and Hitachi LG drives only require the paperclip to be inserted once, but it should be pushed hard into the hole and the tray will open via a lever action.
Both the Thomson and Philips drives require that the paperclip is inserted all the way into the hole until it stops at which point you then remove the paperclip and repeat the process again several times. What you are actually doing here is manually turning a gear inside which opens the tray, the gear needs to be turned around approximately 6 times for the tray to open enough so that you can then easily pull it out. No force should be required to pull the tray out, so if it seems stuck use the paperclip again.
